Accountancy practice adds tax expert to growing senior leadership team
A leading West Midlands accountancy practice has appointed an experienced new director to its tax team as part of its ongoing growth strategy.
Stuart Gooderham has joined Prime Accountants Group, which has offices in Solihull, Birmingham and Coventry, from Cooper Parry, bringing nearly 20 years’ experience in the sector and in the Birmingham area to the role.
After training as an auditor, Stuart moved into tax early in his career and has become a respected expert in private and owner-managed businesses, providing trusted advice on tax regulations and compliance and keeping ahead of ever-changing rules and regulations.
Stuart’s main focus will be on business, corporate and owner-managed business tax, alongside fellow director Paislei Godley, who leads on the personal tax side of the business.
He said he was drawn to the role after learning about Prime’s strong reputation and meeting with managing director Morgan Davies and former managing director Kevin Johns.
Stuart said: “When I met with Morgan and Kev, I could see that their values closely aligned with mine – particularly their focus on maintaining a great culture, looking after their staff and team and delivering high-quality service to clients. That really resonated with me and fits strongly with my own values.
“Throughout my career, I’ve always worked in the private and owner-managed business market, and my client base has consistently reflected that. This fits really well with Prime’s client base and the direction in which the firm is heading.”
Stuart is the third new director hired by Prime in the last 12 months, and he said he was excited about the business’ aspirations and growth plans.
He said: “It’s a great journey to be part of. For me, the focus will be on developing strong client relationships and expanding the range of tax services we offer. I want to ensure we continue to deliver high-quality, proactive advice and keep clients compliant amid constantly changing tax laws.”
Outside of work, Stuart enjoys spending time with his young family and playing hockey – a hobby he’s enjoyed for nearly 30 years.
Morgan Davies, managing director of Prime Accountants Group, said: “Stuart’s appointment fits perfectly with our ongoing growth strategy and commitment to further strengthening our team of experts.
“His knowledge of working with owner-managed businesses aligns with our client base and his ability to stay across an ever-changing regulatory landscape will be invaluable.”
