Weatherite Air Conditioning Ltd has appointed Mark Powell (pictured) as managing director.

Mark’s appointment reflects an exceptional career spanning nearly four decades with the business.

He first joined Weatherite Manufacturing in February 1987 as a contracts engineer, at a time when telex and fax were essential tools, site visits were frequent, and the role demanded true hands-on delivery, from purchasing components to inspecting completed units.

While the industry has since shifted from analogue systems to AI-enabled technologies, Mark’s focus has remained consistent: delivering quality outcomes for customers.

His progression through the business has been significant. In 1995 Mark moved to Weatherite Services, managing major site installation projects, including acting as principal contractor on a £2 million clean-room build in 1999, delivered from a greenfield site.

In 1998 he was promoted to contracts manager then at 33 years old contracts director in 2000.

In 2014 Mark was appointed operations director at Weatherite Air Conditioning Ltd, leading multiple departments through a period of transformation and growth

In his new role as managing director, Mark transitions from day-to-day operational oversight including project delivery from handover through commissioning, warranty and end-of-life management to leading the business as a whole.

Some responsibilities have been delegated to fellow directors and senior managers, allowing him to focus on strategic leadership, growth and long-term value creation.

Tim Whitehouse, group managing director, said: “We have been very fortunate that nearly 40 years ago, a very young Mark decided to join our then small company, beginning what has become a long and exceptional career.

“His depth of experience has provided Weatherite with invaluable guidance over the decades, and I have no doubt he will continue to strengthen the business in his new role.”

Commenting on his appointment, Mark Powell said: “Weatherite has been my professional home for almost four decades.

“I’m incredibly proud of the journey we’ve taken and grateful for the trust placed in me. My commitment is to continue delivering first-class customer service, supporting our people, and building on the strong foundations already in place as we look to the future.”

Ian Bagnall, telecoms accounts said: “I’ve had the privilege of working alongside Mark for nearly four decades, and his dedication to Weatherite has always been clear.

“He consistently demonstrates professionalism, integrity, and a strong commitment to achieving the best outcomes for both the company and its people.

“This new role is a testament to his hard work and leadership qualities, and I’m confident he will continue to drive success and innovation for Weatherite. A fantastic achievement for Mark and a positive step forward for the business.”
