Now open at HCA Healthcare UK’s The Harborne Hospital in Birmingham, the Urgent Care Centre offers adults fast access to medical advice and treatment on a walk-in basis.

Open Monday to Friday, 8am – 8pm and with free on-site parking, you’ll be able to receive the expert care you need locally without an appointment, as well as peace of mind.

Here’s all you need to know;

What do you treat there?

The Urgent Care Centre offers on-demand care for a range of urgent, non-life-threatening conditions. If you’re feeling unwell, are in pain or want medical advice, some of the conditions we treat include:

  • Minor burns and wounds
  • Persistent headaches
  • Sports injuries
  • Minor infections, such as ear or urinary
  • Stomach complaints
  • Broken bones

It’s important to remember that the Urgent Care Centre isn’t a replacement for A&E. If you have symptoms that may indicate something serious or potentially life-threatening like a heart attack or stroke, you should always call 999 and seek emergency care at your local A&E.

Why is it beneficial?

At our Urgent Care Centre, you'll be seen promptly, and if needed, treated quickly. Getting your symptoms diagnosed quickly and managed sooner can help to prevent further complications, reduce your overall pain or discomfort, and support a faster recovery.

How quickly will I be seen?

As the Urgent Care Centre is a walk-in, fast access service, you can just pop in whenever you need help. After checking-in with our Reception team, you’ll be triaged within 15 minutes and seen by the most appropriate expert for you.

If you’d still prefer to book your appointment in advance, you’re also able to call to book yourself a same-day appointment with our specialists.

What tests and services are on offer?

The Urgent Care Centre provides access to treatment for a range of minor conditions. This includes:

  • Stitches for minor wounds, and;
  • On-demand diagnostic scans and tests, including X-rays, CT scans, MRI scans and electrocardiograms, all performed by our leading radiologists and doctors.

Our expert radiologists and physicians will assess your condition quickly, with blood test results available in as little as 30 minutes, and imaging scan reports typically within the hour.

What if I need onward care?

Patients who visit the Urgent Care Centre will be provided with a clear outline of their next steps.

If you do require an onward referral, The Harborne Hospital has consultants across a wide range of medical specialties, who you can be promptly referred to.

If you’re in need of additional tests or treatment, all costs will be explained in advance so you’re able to speak to your insurance provider for pre-authorisation. You’ll also be able to self-fund any additional tests or treatment, if preferred.

How much will it cost?

If you choose to visit the Urgent Care Centre, it’ll cost you £120 for your initial consultation and to be triaged and seen by our experts.

You’ll be asked to pay for the appointment at the time of your visit, and we’ll provide a receipt should you need to claim the cost back through your private medical insurance.

If you do require onward care, we’ll talk you through any further costs before moving forward.

If you have private medical insurance then it’s a good idea to check the extent of your cover with your insurer so you know what can be booked going forward, if needed.
