Aparthotel shortlisted for sustainability award

Independent Birmingham city centre aparthotel Staying Cool at Rotunda has been shortlisted in the West Midlands Tourism Awards 2023 for its ongoing mission to be a sustainable and environmentally-friendly place to stay.

Staying Cool has been shortlisted in the Ethical, Responsible & Sustainable Tourism Award category at the annual awards ceremony, which will be held in March 2023.

Companies from across the West Midlands ' accommodation, arts, food and drink, visitor attraction and heritage sectors will be aiming for success and recognition in categories including the New Tourism Business Award, Experience of the Year and Large Visitor Attraction of the Year.

Staying Cool state that being a sustainable business has been central to them since welcoming its first guests in 2008.

With an awareness of the hospitality industry 's environmental impact, the company focuses on chemical-free cleaning, renewable energy sources, Living Wage employment, local purchasing and partnering with some of Brum 's best independent suppliers and events.

Staying Cool is a proud recipient of a Green Tourism Gold Award for the work that goes into this.

The awards are supported by the West Midlands Growth Company, which is responsible for delivering the region 's Business and Tourism Programme.

The three-year initiative aims to leverage the profile of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games to attract more tourists and major events to the West Midlands and wider UK.

As well as regional success, the winners of the West Midlands Tourism Awards will automatically be nominated for the VisitEngland Awards for Excellence 2023 for the chance to be recognised on a national level.

Tracey Stephenson, co-founder and joint managing director of Staying Cool, said: “We were really chuffed to have made the final three, along with The NEC and Riverside Cabins in Shrewsbury.

The West Midlands Tourism Awards will take place on Thursday, 16 March 2023 at Grand Station, Sun Street, Wolverhampton.
