Arriva unveils £2.5m low-emission bus fleet for Tamworth

Arriva has showcased its new fleet of ultra-low emission buses for Tamworth at the popular Road, Rail and Ale Festival at Statfold Country Park.

The launch marks Arriva’s £2.5 million investment in local bus services.

The new Euro VI Enviro 200 fleet will operate across the Tamworth town network and is expected to deliver a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions of around 15 per cent, while saving approximately four tonnes of nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions annually and helping to reduce particulate matter.

Visitors to the two-day festival had the opportunity to see the new vehicles up close, meet members of the Arriva team and learn more about the bus services that connect communities across Tamworth and beyond.

Alongside investment in new vehicles, Arriva has also enhanced the customer experience through investment in vehicle tracking technology and advanced data analysis tools.

These improvements have enabled more informed timetable planning that better reflects changing traffic conditions, contributing to a three per cent improvement in on-time performance.

The company is also working closely with Staffordshire County Council on plans to introduce a brand-new route later this year, providing new connections to key retail and leisure destinations across the area.

Customers can continue to benefit from great value travel, with all fares remaining capped at £3 and journeys available to destinations including Birmingham, Lichfield and Nuneaton.

Regular passengers can also take advantage of season tickets offering unlimited travel from less than £2.20 per day.

The Road, Rail and Ale Festival celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2026 with the biggest event in the festival's history.

As well as rail attractions, visitors enjoyed displays of vintage trucks, tractors and cars, steam traction engines and a wide range of exhibitors.
