The Asian Business Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) has announced its Annual General Meeting (AGM) with nominations now open to join the executive committee.

It will take place on Wednesday, 15 April at Chamber HQ from 9.30 am to 11.30 am.

The AGM provides an opportunity to reflect on the work of the Chamber over the past year, including the support provided to businesses through economic challenges and pressures.

There are three vacancies for election to the executive committee. In addition, two vice presidents will be appointed from within the committee and the three new committee members.

Those standing for office must be an individual whose business is a member of the Asian Business Chamber of Commerce.

Nominees should fill out the application form by clicking here. Applications close at on Monday 23 March. Each application needs to be supported by two ABCC members.

Candidates are asked to submit a personal profile of no more than 200 words together with their nomination paper. This profile will be used in the event of an online ballot.

The executive committee provides the Chamber with valuable feedback, which influences its strategy and business plan.

It is also a forum to ensure that the voice of Asian businesses are heard locally and regionally.

If nominations do not exceed the number of vacancies, positions will automatically be filled and will be announced at the annual meeting.

If there are more candidates than vacancies, an online ballot will take place in advance of the annual meeting, of which the outcome will be announced at the AGM.

Lillian Elekan (pictured), director of membership at Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce, said: “The Asian Business Chamber of Commerce executive committee plays a vital role in shaping the direction of the Chamber and ensuring the voice of Asian businesses is heard across the region.

“The AGM is an important moment for members to reflect on the progress made over the past year, while also looking ahead to the opportunities and challenges facing businesses.

“We encourage members to consider putting themselves forward and help guide the Chamber’s work in supporting a thriving and diverse business community.”
