The Asian Business Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) will support the Acorns Children 's Hospice Trust at their annual dinner and awards ceremony.

The awards ceremony is set to take place on Saturday, 19 November, at The National Conference Centre in Solihull.

The hospice provides specialist palliative care 24 hours a day, 365 days a year with a happy homely environment where children can take part in a variety of fun and therapeutic activities, from arts and crafts sessions to hydrotherapy. There are also chances for them to meet new friends or relax and enjoy some quiet time.

During the past year, the trust cared for 732 children and supported 945 families across the West Midlands, including those who are bereaved.

The specialist team of health and social care professionals provide a range of services, including psychological, emotional and practical support, bereavement support and advocacy, as well as a number of dedicated support groups which helps to reduce the isolation some families can face.

The awards ceremony will recognise and celebrate businesses and charities across nine categories. One of those category winners will then be crowned the overall Business of the Year.

The headline sponsors this year are Aston University. Doug Wright (T/A McDonalds) and Lioncroft.

Matt Bullock, interim chief executive of the Acorns Hospice trust said: “On behalf of everyone at Acorns, I would like to say a heartfelt thank you. We are so grateful to have been chosen as the nominated charity at these prestigious awards.

“For us, not only is this event about raising vital funds towards our work; it 's about creating meaningful partnerships which will support our strategic aim of reaching more children and families across the region. We are so grateful for the opportunity to engage with our diverse business community. ”

ABCC co-presidents Amina Hussain and Omar Rashid said: “ We are proud to have Acorns as our selected charity on the night of our annual awards & dinner. The work that they do is heartfelt and amazing and we hope our guests on the evening donate and support them in whatever way they can. ”
