Award-winning singer and harpist to perform at The Hub

Lichfield venue The Hub at St Mary’s will welcome award-winning singer songwriter and harpist Chloe Matharu for a performance on Wednesday 16 October (8pm).

Chloe (pictured) hails from the west coast of Scotland. A navigational officer in the Merchant Navy, she offers an authentic voice for the female seafarer in the folk scene.

Her ethereal and innovative music gives a glimpse into the modern mariner’s life and is truly unique.

On tour she performs solo with her harp in English, Scots and Welsh. Her music offers an intriguing insight into a new tradition of maritime folk music with thoughtful song writing embellished by her voice and superb harp playing’ – The Herald.

She has performed at venues such as Celtic Connections, Cambridge Folk Festival, Glad Cafe Glasgow, Green Note in London, Fringe by the Sea, Edinburgh Fringe and Hartlepool Folk Festival. She received Celtic Music Radio’s Album of the Year for her debut album, Small Voyages, released in October 2022.

The Hub creative director, Anthony Evans said: “Chloe’s award-winning debut album Small Voyages, released in October 2022, was selected for Celtic Music Radio's Album of the Year and was included in the top 20 of the World Music Charts Europe.

“Her reflective songs and truly haunting sounds will leave you hooked.”
