Bank Holiday to mark Queen 's State Funeral
To mark Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II's State Funeral, Monday, 19 September, will be a national Bank Holiday.
This will allow individuals, businesses and other organisations to pay their respects to Her Majesty and commemorate her reign, while marking the final day of the period of national mourning.
Government guidance is that this Bank Holiday will operate in the same way as others and there is no statutory entitlement to time off. Employers may include Bank Holidays as part of a worker 's leave entitlement.
It added: “The Bank Holiday will be a unique national moment, and we would encourage employers to respond sensitively to requests from workers who wish to take time off. ”
The Government has published guidance for the public and businesses on the period of national mourning.
The majority of Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce events are expected to go ahead this week, in line with the preference of our venues and speakers. Some events are expected to be postponed - please see the events section of the GBCC website for the latest information. Where events do go ahead, they will commence with a minute 's silence in memory of Her Majesty the Queen.
