The leading men 's health charity, Prostate Cancer UK has a simple ambition - to stop the disease from damaging the lives of men and their families. The charity has invested over £37 million into research and support for men. One in 8 men will get prostate cancer in their lifetime but with the support from Prostate Cancer UK, 2,300 men every year with advanced prostate cancer now benefit from radiotherapy and over 15,000 people are supported by Prostate Cancer UK 's Specialist Nurses.
Ian Kembery, Group Test and Release manager said: “We decided to take on the challenge for Prostate Cancer UK because most of us are at an age where we need to be very aware of our health and sadly have family, friends and colleagues who have experienced cancer in one form or another.
“Earlier this year my cousin was diagnosed with prostate cancer and underwent chemotherapy which has seen his PSA level drop to 0.001. He is now receiving radiotherapy with a very bright outlook.
“We are delighted to have organised the challenge to help support Prostate Cancer UK and raise much needed awareness of the disease. ”
Nicola Tallett, director of Fundraising and Supporter Engagement at Prostate Cancer UK, said: “Prostate cancer is the?most common cancer in men, with one in eight getting diagnosed. We are so grateful for the dedication of this group and so many others across the UK, who help Prostate Cancer UK fund scientific research to stop this disease damaging the lives of men and their loved ones.
“Everyone who supports Prostate Cancer UK has their own story, some heart-breaking and others heart-warming, but all united with a common aim to see a world where men 's lives are not limited by prostate cancer. We thank the Stadium Strollers for literally going that extra mile and joining us in our promise and commitment. ”
