The Birmingham Children's Trust will be taking part in a campaign to highlight the impact of foster care.

The Foster Care Fortnight Campaign has been organised by the Fostering Network and will take place from 12 to 25 May.

It comes during a time where there is a national shortage of foster carers and in Birmingham, the community has an important role to play.

Every day, many children and young people across the city need a safe, stable and loving home.

During Foster Care Fortnight, Foster Birmingham (part of Birmingham Children’s Trust) will be hosting two evening fostering information events.

There will be a face-to-face session on 15 May at Harvest Fields Centre in Sutton Coldfield, and the second event will be held virtually on the 22 May, for those with busy schedules who would like to learn more about fostering.

Both events will be attended by a foster carer who will share their own experiences, offering an opportunity to speak directly to professionals and find the right information for you.

Priscilla Spence, assistant head of Service at Foster Birmingham, said: “Contributions from you, your family, and your networks are always invaluable, which is why hearing from you or anyone else thinking about embarking on this path, would be so welcoming to see.”

Foster Birmingham are actively recruiting foster carers and currently fast-tracking applications. If you are interested in finding out more about this rewarding role, Foster Birmingham would love to hear from you.

Their foster carers receive a competitive financial package as well as ongoing specialist training and support.

To book a spot at one of their fostering information evenings visit their website, where they hold a full calendar of information evenings throughout the year for people who are considering fostering.
