Birmingham council leader to speak at annual Chamberlain lecture tomorrow
Councillor John Cotton, leader of Birmingham City Council is due to speak tomorrow at the annual Chamberlain lecture.
The lecture provides an opportunity to come together and reflect on the achievements of local government and the local public sector, as well as looking ahead to where the sector is going.
This year 's lecture is hosted by Cratus and will be held at the iconic Highbury Hall in Birmingham. The building was commissioned as Joseph Chamberlain 's residence in 1878 and represents the perfect location for this year 's event.
Since the event 's conception in 2018, The Chamberlain Lecture has witnessed some truly exceptional guest speakers, and this year will be no different.
For Nick Kilby, CEO of Cratus and founder of the Chamberlain Lecture, this year 's lecture represents a special return to Birmingham to analyse and highlight the relationship between local authorities and the people they represent, which is more crucial than ever before.
Drinks and canapes will be available from 6pm, served in the beautiful grounds of Highbury Hall, if the weather allows. Participants will have the opportunity to visit the Chamberlain library, before taking seats for the lecture in the Great Hall, under the portrait of Joseph Chamberlain himself.
The event is sponsored by The MJ and CCLA.
