Birmingham events venue recognised for commitment to sustainability

The Birmingham Conference and Events Centre (BCEC) and the Holiday Inn Birmingham City Centre  have been awarded the Silver Green Tourism Award - recognising their shared commitment to sustainable and responsible hospitality.

The award, granted by Green Tourism, the UK’s leading sustainability accreditation body, highlights the ongoing environmental efforts across both the conference venue and the hotel.

From eco-conscious energy use and water-saving measures to sustainable procurement, community partnerships and low-carbon travel support, both venues are working together to lead by example in the heart of Birmingham.

This achievement reflects the wider sustainability strategy of the Cairn Group, which operates both the BCEC and the Holiday Inn Birmingham City Centre.

Matt Woodall, venue manager at the BCEC, said: “We’re delighted to receive the Silver Award from Green Tourism at our venues.

“It’s a fantastic recognition of the progress we’ve made to operate more responsibly and support our guests in making greener choices. Our goal now is to build on this success as we work toward achieving Gold.”

Visitors to the venue are encouraged to get involved, with guidance offered on conserving energy, supporting local producers, recycling, and choosing more sustainable travel options during their stay.
