Birmingham Hospice launches Jail or Bail event

Birmingham Hospice is inviting businesses across Birmingham and beyond to take part in its exciting Jail or Bail challenge.

Taking place on Friday, 14 July at the 'Lock Up ', Steelhouse Lane, Jail or Bail is the ideal chance for employees to sentence their boss to a day behind bars all for a good cause.

Whilst spending the day in jail, the very worst of Birmingham 's office inmates will have the opportunity to call colleagues, friends and family to help them reach their £500 bail and raise vital funds to provide specialist palliative and end of life care for people living with a terminal illness.

Charlotte Dowling, senior community and corporate fundraising manager for Birmingham Hospice said: “The success and feedback from businesses regarding the last Jail or Bail event encouraged us to do another in 2023, and we are confident that local businesses will be keen to support us and to see the managers and CEOs put behind bars.

“It costs £495 for 24 hours of nursing support for a person being cared for on one of our Inpatient Units. Once a participating business has reached their fundraising target of £500 and gained their freedom, they could have paid for 24 hours of support for those living with a terminal illness. ”

Making every moment matter for patients and their loved ones is at the heart of everything Birmingham Hospice does. Each year, after NHS funding, the hospice needs to raise £5.5 million from voluntary donations so local people can receive the vital care and support they need.
