Bookkeeper celebrates 30 years working at Prime Accountants

A bookkeeper at a leading accountancy firm has celebrated 30 years working within the payroll team.

Pam Rai (pictured) joined Prime Accountants in 1996 as a bookkeeper within the payroll team, working as an assistant alongside her role as a bookkeeper.

Pam said: “When I was 18, I wanted to be a chartered accountant. I did maths as an A-level at college and wanted to go to university to become an accountant.

“However, my personal circumstances took me down a different road, and after I had my first baby, I applied for a job that came up at Prime Accountants.

“I always wanted to work in an accountancy firm. I don’t know why, I just did. I got the job, and the rest is history.

“I was an assistant to an ex-colleague. When she left, I took over the department's internal accounts, and I have been there ever since.

“I haven’t moved around the company. I have made the bookkeeping department my own, and I wouldn’t change it for anything. As the times have changed, I have had to change with them.

“Going from pen and paper to where we are today, it has been a massive adjustment. It is probably one of my biggest achievements that I have managed to adapt to changing software.

“One of the biggest challenges in my career has been adapting to all the changes in software, but once I understood it, it was such a rewarding feeling.”

Jamie Skelding, director at Prime Accountants, said: “Pam has been an integral part of our team for thirty years now. Her unwavering loyalty is one of the many reasons why the firm has achieved such greatness in recent years.

“She is an integral part of our team. We are so happy to have you here, and we are delighted to be celebrating this amazing milestone with you.”
