Brewers celebrate community champions at home game
Burton Albion welcomed a group of community champions at a game against Charlton last week.
Local community heroes were celebrated up and down the country as part of the EFL Community Weekends campaign.
The community champions were invited to the game with a guest and formed a guard of honour welcoming the two teams onto the pitch.
Burton Albion Community Trust chairman Phil Pusey was on hand to welcome the champions to the Pirelli Stadium
He said: “Burton Albion Community Trust is totally focused on making life better for local people through a range of activities and support.
“We rely on a great staff team as well as lots of amazing volunteers to deliver everything, and so rightly our 11 community champions are held up as wonderful role models during this EFL Community Weekend for their significant contribution to many of our vital ongoing projects.
“They are true everyday heroes and we hope they enjoyed their moment in the spotlight, and that other fans are inspired to get involved with the trust and its variety of programmes."
John Widdowson, interim head of Community at Burton Albion Community Trust, said: “This was a nationwide EFL initiative highlighting the amazing impact clubs and their community trusts make on a day-to-day basis.
“Burton Albion is a club that has supporting the community at the heart of everything it does and we were delighted to welcome our community champions as great ambassadors for the wonderful work that goes on.”
