Brewers fans asked to support good causes this Christmas
Burton Albion fans are being asked to support three good causes at the club's game against Stevenage on Saturday – the last home fixture before Christmas.
The club is appealing to supporters for help in supporting local people struggling over the festive period.
The Brewers are partnering with Derek’s Tree, Burton YMCA and Burton Round Table.
Starting from Saturday's game, the Burton Albion Community Trust building will be receiving donations for both Derek’s Tree and Burton YMCA.
Supporters can simply visit the Community Room on the ground floor of the building next to the artificial pitch and donations will make their way to those in need.
Derek’s Tree will distribute gifts to local young people. All items should be brand-new and in undamaged original packaging. They don’t need to be wrapped, as this will allow them to be easily allocated to appropriate young people.
Gifts for young people could include: footballs; Barbie dolls; toiletry sets, books and Lego sets
The YMCA is facing unprecedented demand for its food bank, with many people requiring a food parcel for the first time in its 23-year history. The charity has already fed over 5,000 people so far this year with over 1,000 being children.
BACT has joined forces with the YMCA to collect some much-needed products for the foodbank in the lead up to Christmas.
Burton Round Table will be bringing Santa and his sleigh to the Pirelli Stadium to the game on Saturday. The sleigh will be at the ground by 12.30pm and Santa will be visiting the hospitality suites and the Family Zone (which starts at 1pm).
The group raises thousands of pounds for good causes (including Burton Albion Community Trust) and as well as bringing some festive cheer will be holding a bucket collection to raise funds with fans asked to please bring along some spare cash to donate.
If you can’t get to the game but would like to provide a donation at any other time, please email BACTadmin@burtonalbionct.org or call 01283 246207.
