Brewers players attend community female participation session
Burton Albion men’s first team players Deji Oshilaja and Mustapha Carayol recently attended one of Burton Albion Community Trust’s Female Participation sessions.
Female Participation is a social football session for women aged 18+. A warm and welcoming environment, the session is perfect for those wanting to play the sport for the first time, or those who have played for many years.
Oshilaja and Carayol got stuck in from the off, first starting with a passing and moving drill. Things got competitive as the two found themselves on opposing teams for the big match. After setting up goals for their respective teams, they turned shot stoppers and had an outing between the sticks.
At the conclusion of the session, both stayed behind to sign autographs and pose for photos with the thrilled participants.
Brewers midfielder Deji Oshilaja said: “It’s been a brilliant way to spend an evening. The girls were amazing and made us both feel welcome, but as soon as the match started they were very competitive which is always good to see.”
Burton Albion Community Trust women and girls coordinator Steve Guest said: “The lads were brilliant tonight and the girls loved having them both too. The game was a very competitive one but to see everyone walking off with massive smiles on their faces was what we always hope to achieve.”
