Burton Albion FC have completed the signing of Millar Matthews-Lewis (pictured) from National League South side Hemel Hempstead Town.

The 21-year-old forward joins on a two-and-a-half-year contract with additional 12-month club option, for an undisclosed fee - subject to EFL approval.

Brewers head coach Gary Bowyer said: “Delighted to welcome Millar to the club, he’s had a good season so far and we see the potential for him to develop further.

“Millar can score all types of goals and is really keen to learn. Having spoken with him on the phone, he has a great desire to succeed and make the step up.”

Matthews-Lewis started his career in the academy at fellow Sky Bet League One side Luton Town.

He was a member of the under-18 squad, before stepping up to under-21 level as the Hatters were promoted to the Premier League.

His highlights there include netting a second-half hat-trick during the 2023 Bedfordshire Senior Cup Final win over Biggleswade Town.

The U21 side won 6-2 at Kenilworth Road. He also scored for Town during their 2023/24 Premier League Cup campaign.

He joined Farnborough on loan before making the deal permanent in July 2024.

He played a key role in the team that made a late Play-Off push towards the end of last season.

In the summer, he joined Hemel Hempstead and has scored 12 goals in 26 league games so far this term.

He also played in the Tudors’ 1-1 draw with Wigan Athletic in the First Round of the Emirates FA Cup. Matthews-Lewis was brought down by Matt Smith after an hour, resulting in a penalty that Joe White scored to equalise at the Brick Community Stadium.

On joining Burton Albion, Millar said: “It’s a dream come true for me, I can’t wait to get started. This level of football is one that I feel will really get the best out of me and I can’t wait to get to work with the lads here.”

Millar will be available for the local derby with Port Vale on Saturday 7 February.
