Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce CEO Henrietta Brealey has paid tribute to local businesses who are creating an optimistic future for the region.

Addressing 1,000 attendees at the ICC during the GBCC’s annual awards, she said the business community is providing cause for optimism in the face of economic pressures and geopolitical uncertainty.

“When I think about my son’s future, and the future of this business community, I’m optimistic,” she said.

“And the reason is you. Every day, I have the privilege of meeting business leaders from across our region - from early-stage entrepreneurs to global firms - and I see something very different to the headlines.

“I see people collaborating across sectors, cultures and borders. I see people embracing change, not fearing it.

“I see people building something bigger than themselves. Businesses that create jobs,
strengthen communities, drive innovation and leave a lasting legacy.

“Thanks to you, I see a world where we have far more in common than rage-fuelling algorithms would have us believe - and where there’s a lot more to life and business  than the top results on Google or the recommendations of an AI chatbot.

“For all its challenges, the future I see - for my son, and for businesses in this region - is exciting and full of potential.

“From West Midlands Interchange, to UK Central, to Birmingham’s Sports Quarter, there is opportunity everywhere we look.

“I’m proud that the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce leads with, and on behalf of, our members to bring a business voice to the future of our region.”
