Burton charity appoints new interim chief executive
Burton-based SARAC (Sexual Abuse Rape Advice Centre) has announced the appointment of Caroline Fotheringham (pictured) as interim chief executive.
This strategic leadership transition comes at a pivotal time as SARAC continues its critical support services for survivors of sexual abuse and rape across Burton, Lichfield, Tamworth, Uttoxeter and south Derbyshire.
SARAC is also the chosen charity of the Burton & District Chamber of Commerce.
With a strong track record of working in education, local authority and safeguarding, Caroline joined Sarac as a Helpline Volunteer in 2017 and then came onboard as a staff member to reignite the Young Persons Service in 2021, soon to become operations manager.
Given the announcement of the recent resignation of the chief executive, the board of trustees decided to appoint Caroline as interim chief executive to maintain stability for the charity, team and clients.
Caroline brings both compassion and strategic insight to this new role.
She said: “I’m honoured to step into the role of Interim Chief Executive and lead such a dedicated and passionate team of staff and volunteers.”
“SARAC’s work is deeply personal to me and I look forward to continuing our mission of providing safe, empowering support to survivors, while also championing systemic change in how society responds to sexual violence through our conversations and education.”
The organisation remains steadfast in its mission to support anyone affected by sexual abuse or rape, over the age of 11 years, regardless of when the abuse occurred, and looks ahead to continued collaboration with local communities, partners, and funders.
SARAC also offers a variety of training offers with understanding sexual violence, the responses to trauma and support advice.
