Burton construction firm submits planning application to redevelop its headquarters
Alpha Construction Ltd has submitted a full planning application for the redevelopment of its Alpha House premises on Uttoxeter Road, Hilton.
Designed by Matthew Montague Architects, the proposal replaces the existing single-storey office with two contemporary two-storey office buildings, creating a distinctive new headquarters that reflects the company's ambition while establishing a strong architectural presence at this prominent gateway into Hilton.
The design has been carefully developed to balance modern architecture with a sensitive response to its surroundings.
Clean, contemporary forms, high-quality materials and generous glazing create light-filled workspaces that promote collaboration, wellbeing and flexibility, while presenting a confident and professional identity for the business.
Alpha Construction Ltd has been based in Hilton for over 30 years, and the proposed redevelopment represents a major investment in retaining and expanding the company’s operations within South Derbyshire.
The new workspace will provide the capacity, flexibility and working environment needed to support the company’s long-term plans, while helping to create future employment opportunities as the business continues to grow.
The submitted proposals include improved accessibility, enhanced parking, secure cycle storage, electric vehicle charging infrastructure and welcoming outdoor areas for employees to enjoy.
The development has also been designed to be highly sustainable and environmentally friendly. This includes using solar panels to generate green energy, building with high-efficiency insulation to save power, and creating natural ventilation.
The plans also feature water-saving technology and new green spaces to support local wildlife.
Tony Bamford, managing director of Alpha Construction Ltd, said: “Submitting this planning application is an important milestone for Alpha Construction. We are proud to be a long-established Hilton-based business, and our intention is to continue investing in the area, our people and the future of the company.
“The proposed redevelopment of Alpha House will give us a modern headquarters that supports the way we work now and provides the flexibility we need as the business grows.
“It is about retaining our roots in Hilton while creating the right environment for future expansion and employment opportunities.
“As a civil engineering and building construction business, we also wanted our new headquarters to reflect the standards we deliver for our clients. The thought that has gone into its sustainability and accessibility mirrors the exact approach we take on our projects. It will give us a workplace that truly represents what Alpha Construction Ltd is capable of.”
