Burton students’ creativity showcased in Brewhouse exhibition
Creative students from Burton and South Derbyshire College (BSDC) recently unveiled an impressive display of artwork at their end-of-year Creative Exhibition.
The opening night took place on Monday 15 June at the Brewhouse Arts Centre in Burton upon Trent, featuring a range of inspiring pieces.
The exhibition is a highly anticipated annual event, offering students a valuable platform to present their creativity and dedication, while inviting the wider community to explore the diverse and emerging talent at Burton and South Derbyshire College.
More than just a showcase, the event celebrates the creative industries and highlights students’ achievements across a range of disciplines, including fashion, art, film, photography, graphics and product design.
It marks the culmination of their hard work, innovation and artistic growth throughout the year.
Students were invited to create work around a broad theme of progression and next steps.
Matilda Bartram, Art and Illustration student, said: “My work was inspired by my progression through film and media, and my love of storytelling and character creation.
“I’m now going to Keele University to study Film and Media, and I would be interested in any career within the film industry, particularly one that blends film and art.”
Nikola Golab, Games Development student, added: “I’ve created a range of 3D modelling and concept art pieces for my project. It has been great to showcase my work in the exhibition for others to see.
“I’m now progressing to study Concept Art for Games and Film at the University of Staffordshire.”
Stephanie Parker, Curriculum Team Leader at BSDC, said: “The end-of-year exhibition beautifully showcased our learners’ hard work, creativity and passion.
“It was not only a celebration of their achievements but also a reflection of who they are becoming - thoughtful, imaginative individuals ready to embrace the next stage of their journey.”
