Burton YMCA launches social media campaign to dispel common misconceptions
A recent social media campaign launched by YMCA Burton has dispelled some misconceptions around the charity and shared facts about how individuals, families and communities are supported every day.
The campaign showed that housing is only a part of the charity’s services which also include support, advocacy, education and pathways to independence.
Funds raised in the three shops stays local and helps support people in the community while the foodbank provides emergency support for people facing genuine food poverty.
Paul Laffey, CEO of YMCA Burton, said: “Over the years, there have been misconceptions about YMCA Burton and the work that we do.
“We hope this campaign has helped to provide a clearer picture of the breadth of our work and most importantly, the difference we are able to make in the lives of people across our community.
“It is important that people understand who we are, what we do and that we are here to help.”
YMCA Burton is an independent local charity affiliated with the national YMCA England & Wales. The charity relies on local community fundraising, grants, donations, and earned income such as shop sales.
