Sutton Coldfield business coach Clare Whalley is marking her return to work after a six-month sabbatical by volunteering her expertise to Acacia Family Support, the Royal Sutton Coldfield Chamber of Commerce’s Charity of the Year.

Clare, who helps organisations develop, grow and achieve their goals, will support Acacia with business development, strategy and marketing as it expands its services and reaches more families.

The charity’s mission is “a world where every family affected by pre or postnatal mental illness receives timely and effective support close to home”.

She will work with the charity’s director and fundraising team to turn that mission into sustainable business development and marketing activity.

Her initial focus will be on understanding Acacia’s ambitions, identifying growth opportunities and agreeing practical priorities.

Clare said: “After six months away, I wanted my return to work to have real purpose. I’m passionate about using my skills and experience to make a positive difference, and Acacia is doing incredibly important work for families affected by pre and postnatal mental illness.

“My hope is that together we can help Acacia strengthen its foundations, raise awareness of its work and ultimately reach more families who need support.”

Kate Davarzadeh, fundraising manager at Acacia, said: “We’re incredibly excited to welcome Clare as our latest volunteer.

“Having worked with her in the past when she donated a 12-month coaching programme, we understand the value and impact that business coaching can have.

“The team are delighted to have her on board and to see what’s next.”

Anyone wanting to support Acacia, whether by volunteering, fundraising, becoming an Acacia Angel, choosing it as their corporate charity of the year or helping to spread the word, can contact Clare or visit the charity’s website.
