The British Chamber of Commerce has launched a survey to have your voice heard on the business concerns that matter most to you.

The 2023 Outlook survey invites the business community to express their views on current challenges faced as a result of the economic downturn, unstable market conditions, and sustained high inflation.

The survey aims to collect data on four key metrics: inflation and energy costs, growth and investment, the impact of bank closures and late payments, and whether local areas are enabling growth.

Following the data collection, the findings will be anonymised and presented to UK Government ministers and officials with the aim of informing and shaping policy decisions made about the national economy.

The launch of this survey comes about following the British Chamber of Commerce 's findings from the recent quarterly survey that revealed a dampening of business confidence at the end of 2022.

Notable points include more businesses expecting to see a decline in profitability than an increase and 80 per cent feeling more concerned about inflation than in the previous three-month period. More details of the BCC Quarterly Economic Survey findings can be found here.

Gemma Dilkes, policy and projects officer at the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce, said: “Our latest Quarterly Business Report found that the current economic challenges have affected business confidence throughout 2022, with Q4 findings highlighting particular concerns about price pressures and interest rates.

“This survey aims to support policy makers in fully understanding the nuanced challenges firms are facing across the country and at a local level, therefore it provides a key opportunity for businesses to have their voices heard during this period of difficult business conditions ”.

The survey is live until 6 February and can be accessed by clicking here.
