Businesses encouraged to raise their profile by championing care leavers
Independent fostering agency, Capstone Foster Care, are encouraging businesses to raise the profile of their organisations in 2024 by championing care leavers.
Firms can do so through Capstone Care Leavers Trust which has just received fundraising capabilities.
Capstone Care Leavers Trust is a charity attached to the agency, dedicated to the ongoing support of care experienced young people. The Trust awards grants to people aged 17 to 25 who have been in local authority care in England and Wales.
While it can provide support with household goods, such as fridges and washing machines as these young people journey into independence, the trusts’ passion lies in education.
Care experienced young people, often with little family around them, are at a substantial disadvantage when it comes to educational aspirations, which is where the Trust can come in.
Not only has it awarded grants to cover tuition fees and course costs, but it also supports the purchase of course materials such as laptops and has even funded the costs of a new wardrobe for a barrister in training.
Head of marketing, Sarah Carter, said: “We are delighted to be opening the Trust to fundraising, allowing businesses to make it their charity of choice.
“More needs to be done to support care experienced young people, and by fundraising for the Trust, it is a fantastic opportunity for those who simply do not have the ability to foster to make a difference to these children.”
