Businesses receive expert trading advice at Staffordshire County Show

Businesses visiting this year’s Staffordshire County Show have received free, practical advice from Staffordshire County Council’s Trading Standards service.

Trading Standards officers joined partners on the Made in Staffordshire stand to speak with local businesses, producers and traders about responsible trading practices and the support available to help them operate compliantly and confidently.

Advice will cover a range of topics, including fair trading, product labelling and documentation, age‑restricted sales, and how businesses can access ongoing support from the service.

Anthony Screen (pictured), Cabinet Member for Community Safety and Resilience at Staffordshire County Council, said: “Supporting local businesses to trade well and thrive is vital for our county’s economy, and initiatives like Made in Staffordshire play an important role in promoting that ambition.

“Trading Standards officers are on hand to provide guidance and advice to help businesses understand their responsibilities and get things right from the outset. By engaging early and making use of the support available, businesses can avoid problems later and focus on growing successfully.

“This kind of partnership working helps promote well‑run, trusted businesses and gives consumers confidence in the products and services they buy.”

The Staffordshire County Show took place at the County Showground in Stafford on 27 and 28 May.

Made in Staffordshire is a new, free membership scheme which champions Staffordshire’s makers, producers and manufacturers, from small independent businesses to large‑scale industry, and promotes the county as a great place to do business.
