Businesses team up to support Kids’ Village

Walton Homes and Cookes Furniture have joined forces to support Kids' Village, which will be the UK’s first holiday village to provide free holidays to critically ill children and their families.

When family-run housebuilder Walton Homes recently sold one of their furnished show homes, the buyer opted not to purchase the show home furniture.

Rather than let the furniture go to waste or be reused, Walton Homes offered the full show home furniture collection to Kids’ Village, their chosen charity partner.

The furniture will be used to furnish areas of the Kids’ Village lodges and central facilities, starting with the prototype lodge which will be built first.

Any unused fixtures and fittings will then be auctioned off to raise funds for the charity.

When the furniture was offered, another supporter of Kids’ Village, Cookes Furniture, also stepped up to support the initiative by collecting the furniture and agreeing to store it free of charge until the charity needs it.

Amy Summerton, managing director of Walton Homes, said: “At Walton Homes, we’re committed to building stronger communities and supporting causes that make a real difference.

“Donating our show home furniture to Kids Village was an easy decision for us.

“We're proud to support their incredible mission in creating a safe and uplifting space for children and families, and we’re honoured to play a small part in bringing their first prototype lodge to life.”

Katrina Cooke, CEO of Kids’ Village, added: “On behalf of Kids’ Village, a huge thank you to Walton Homes for so generously offering the contents of their most recent show home, and to Cookes Furniture for agreeing to pack up and store the furniture on behalf of Kids’ Village.

“With every product donation like this and in-kind support, our total fundraising target reduces, and we are very grateful to have the support from two leading local organisations.”
