Stoke-on-Trent & Staffordshire 'Health & Care People Hub ', hosted by Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, are looking for support from local businesses who would be happy to allow their employees to register as a paid care reservist for a few days out of the year.

The People Hub have partnered with other NHS Trusts and Care Organisations across the county to recruit caring and compassionate people as Staffordshire Care Reservists, this support service provides a bank of registered and non-registered individuals on a bank basis for clinical and non-clinical staffing solutions.

The People Hub provide staffing support in the following areas:

  • Community and Social Care
  • Testing and Vaccination Centres
  • Pharmacy and Hospitals
  • Mental Health
  • Allied Health
  • Primary Care Networks/GP 's and Care Homes

No training or specific skills are required to become a Care Reservist however there 's number of skills that are important for anyone interested in this role:

  • Kindness, patience and compassion.
  • Good English, numeracy and writing skills.
  • Ability to understand and follow procedures.
  • Good communication and listening skills

Full intensive training (some face to face and some virtual) will be provided over the course of around 5/6 days and you will be offered the same induction and basic training that the NHS or one of the local authorities would offer any other care worker. In addition, we will brief you on what to expect if you deployed as a Reservist.

You will also be offered chances to “shadow ” an existing, experienced care worker before you are deployed as a Care Reservist, providing you with the opportunity to experience what it is like to work in both a care home and home care setting before you would be asked to cover care calls/shifts as a Care Reservist.

Full uniform, identification and PPE will be provided, and you will be fully supported by the care home provider, People Hub and their local authority partners throughout.

As a Care Reservist you can pick your own shifts as and when you are available, any support you are able to offer is greatly appreciated as this can make a massive difference.

Care reservists will be paid at an hourly rate of £10.19 in line with NHS Band 2 and when Reservists are required to travel between sites during an assignment or asked to move from one provider to another, business mileage will be claimable in line with the Trusts ' expenses policy.

As part of the recruitment process, unless you are medically exempt, you will be required to prove your vaccination status. You will then also be expected to provide a negative Lateral Flow Test prior to booking and starting a shift.
