A bold public health campaign will be launched in the city in 2027 to create awareness around digestive and gut health.

The campaign, named as Inside Out, is led by Global Healthcare Projects (GHP) a NFP organisation with 20 years’+ experience in disease prevention and public health advocacy.

It is built on growing scientific evidence that digestive and gut health underpin overall wellbeing, influencing physical health, mental resilience and long‑term disease prevention.

At the heart of the festival is a 40‑foot interactive walk‑through gut exhibit, complemented by expert talks, workshops and practical demonstrations.

Delivered in a prominent public space rather than clinical settings, GHP will work with Birmingham Public Health Team supporting local priorities and reaching communities that often don’t routinely engage with traditional healthcare services.

The London launch held last year demonstrated significant impact, engaging thousands of participants, strengthening partnerships across public health, VCSE’s, social prescribing networks generating widespread public interest.

Crucially, the model emphasises co‑creation with local communities ensuring relevance, trust and lasting behavioural change.

For Birmingham, this presents an opportunity to support inclusive economic and social development, improving health literacy, reducing long‑term pressure on public services, and fostering collaborations between employers, community organisations and policy makers.

Jolanta Gore Booth, GHP founder and CEO, said: “The Inside Out Festival, featuring the impressive 40‑foot inflatable walk‑through gut, is more than an event - it’s a statement.

“We invite Birmingham businesses to support an innovative and memorable health campaign that will leave a lasting footprint, strengthening the health and wellbeing of the city’s communities for generations to come. With sincere thanks to the Birmingham Public Health Team for their valued support”

Alex Robinson, senior public health officer at Birmingham City Council, said: “Initiatives like Inside Out highlight the value of creative, community-facing approaches to engaging people in their health and wellbeing.

“By creating accessible and innovative experiences in public spaces, programmes like this can help build awareness, support healthier behaviours and contribute to a more resilient workforce and city.

“There is clear potential in bringing together public, private and community partners to explore how activity of this kind can complement wider efforts to improve health outcomes across Birmingham.”
