Cancer Support Centre benefits from £13,000 Fun Run boost

A number of 2025 Royal Sutton Fun Run entrants have raised £13,344 for the Cancer Support Centre in Sutton Coldfield.
Three of the key contributors were Andy Perks, client relations manager, Inktree Birmingham who raised over £4,200, the team from Specsavers (Sutton Coldfield and Mere Green) who raised £2,640 and the team from RotoSpa who pushed a hot tub around the 8.5-mile course raising £2,090.
Karl Rowntree, MD of RotoSpa, said: “We love this event and whilst pushing the hot tub around the 8.5-mile course becomes more challenging for me each year, I’m fortunate to have colleagues who take on most of the burden negotiating the undulating course including ‘Cardiac Hill’.
“We wanted to raise money for a local charity and were impressed with the support and care the team at Cancer Support Centre in Lindridge Road, Royal Sutton Coldfield offer, not only to those diagnosed with cancer but also family members who must deal with the news that someone close to them has cancer.
Jackie Price, manager, The Cancer Support Centre said: “We’re thrilled to have benefitted from over £13,000 this year – a record total from Royal Sutton Fun Run participants. I’d also like to extend thanks to Masterplan Wealth for contributing over £2350 towards the total received, as well as the individual runners who supported us.
“We have to raise £3600 every week, in order to provide our current support, and that challenge gets more difficult as so many of our supporters are struggling with constantly increased costs.
“The money will help us continue to deliver a range of treatments to people living with a cancer diagnosis across Sutton Coldfield and surrounding areas within the West Midlands.
“Everyone’s experience is different, and everyone’s needs are different, and our support is as individual as they are. We offer complementary treatments to ensure the mind is in the best possible health, whilst the body recovers from the ongoing challenges that cancer presents.”
Fun Run director, James Pike said: “Andy Perks and the teams from Specsavers [Sutton Coldfield & Mere Green], RotoSpa & Masterplan Wealth epitomise the spirit of the Fun Run. Enjoying a wonderful day with family, friends or work colleagues whilst raising money for a charity or voluntary organisation of their choice.”
