Cannock-based AI platform nominated for innovation award
An AI platform invented in Cannock has been nominated in two categories for the 2026 Parliamentary Pathfinder Innovation Awards.
ALCROEN also known as The Algorithms of Skin, is a state-of-the-art diagnostic tool developed to assist clinicians in providing faster, more accurate skin health assessments.
It was co-founded by Dr. Alka Mehta and Rajiv Rai, in a bid to bridge the gap between British technology and Indian clinical excellence.
The nomination of ALCROEN marks a historic first for a Cannock Chase-based enterprise, positioning the district at the forefront of the United Kingdom's mission to integrate artificial intelligence into the National Health Service.
Under the brand Dr Alka’s Skincare and Healthcare, they operate a premier chain of clinics across India, including Mohali, Kapurthala, Pathankot and Bangalore.
The event was hosted by Mansfield MP Steve Yemm and supported by Cannock Chase MP Josh Newbury, who highlighted how regional businesses in Staffordshire are driving the next generation of life sciences.
Rajiv Rai said: “It is a proud moment for India and a significant milestone for Staffordshire.
“Bringing this nomination home to Cannock Chase proves that world-class AI innovation isn't just limited to London -it is happening right here in the heart of the West Midlands. ALCROEN represents years of research coming to fruition.”
Dr Mehta added: “As members of the GBCC and Rotary International, we are committed to using this platform to foster local economic growth while solving global healthcare challenges.
“ALCROEN is designed to make precision diagnostics accessible and effective for everyone.”
