Care home team provide hundreds of free school meals
The team at Sunrise of Edgbaston, a residential and independent living care home, have provided hundreds free school meals for local children.
Sunrise staff offered their support to children in need of meals, while home-learning, by providing St Gregory 's Catholic Primary School pupils with free school meals .
The lunches were freshly prepared by Sunrise of Edgbaston 's in-house dining team, with plenty of options including salad, fruit, cheese, pasta, milk, baked beans, cordial, jellies, fruit pots, milk, pancake batter for pancake day, crisps, milkshakes, tea bags and hot chocolate.
Nick Drinkwater, general manager at Sunrise of Edgbaston, said: “We are so happy to be able to help St Gregory 's and support local families and children. We have all been affected by the pandemic in so many ways and we really wanted to promote healthy and nutritious food for kids who need it the most. We also included a few treats along the way! ”
Thomas Boodle, headmaster at St Gregory 's Catholic Primary School, added: “Thank you Sunrise of Edgbaston for the amazing gesture of kindness. The hampers were beautiful and so well thought out and have made a real difference to some of our most vulnerable families.
"We dropped most of them off to families and they were so grateful and appreciative and asked me to pass on their thanks.
“One of our ongoing focuses at St Gregory 's is encouraging the children to take part in Acts of Kindness and this is a perfect example of that. Sunrise of Edgbaston has made lots of children, and their families, very happy and I extend my thanks and appreciation to all the team.
“I think it says a lot about Sunrise of Edgbaston, that at what is such a difficult time for everybody, the team at the care home thought of others and took the time and effort to put together such a lovely act of kindness. ”
