Carolinas in spotlight as Chapter Chat series returns

Greater Birmingham Transatlantic Chamber of Commerce 's Chapter Chat series returns this month with attention turning to the Carolinas.

The Transatlantic Chamber is joining forces with BABC Carolinas - fellow British American Business Council members - to discuss trade between the respective regions.

The webinar takes place on Tuesday 28 June (4pm to 5pm).

There will be the opportunity to hear from representatives from Birmingham and Charlotte.

Located centrally on the east coast, Charlotte is the 15th largest US city with a population of more than 800,000 - and 7.4 million living within a 100-mile radius.

It is home to the nation 's seventh busiest airport, Charlotte Douglas International Airport, which has more than 750 daily departures to more than 175 destinations, including over 35 international.

North Carolina continues to be among the most competitive state for economic development and is ranked as one of states in the US with the best business climate.

Close to 300 of Fortune 's top 500 companies have made North Carolina their home, while seven of those companies have global headquarters in Charlotte.

More than 1,000 foreign businesses have headquarters or subsidiaries throughout the Carolinas and more than 120 of those are British.

Guest speakers Michael D Teden, Honorary British Consul for North Carolina and chairman of British American Business Council Carolinas.

He is also managing director of the Whitehall Advisory Group.

He will be joined by Sarah Peeler, executive director of BABC Carolinas.
