Celebrate Diwali with packed programme of South Asian arts and heritage
An organisation that champions the arts and heritage of South Asian communities has announced a stellar range of activities for Diwali.
Sampad South Asian Arts & Heritage will mark the festival of lights with dance, music, family celebrations, schools performances and workshops happening through October and November.
The headline event, Midday Matra, will take place on Saturday 25 October at Symphony Hall. The workshop will commence at 12 pm, followed by a performance from world-class musicians and dancers at 1 pm.
This is the first of Sampad’s new Midday Mantra series, which runs from October 2025 to September 2026. Multi buy offers are available for the new season.
This series of lunchtime concerts is a journey into the soul-stirring melodies that define South Asian music, providing enriching cultural experiences for all ages and backgrounds.
Ujala, an Indian classical dance, will take place at the Midlands Arts Centre on Wednesday, 5 November from 7 pm. Sampad will be inviting talented dancers from across the region to present a garland of styles from Bharatanatyam, Kathak and Odissi to Kuchipudi and Yakshagana.
Deeply rooted in tradition and mythology, Ujala is a vibrant and expressive performance, sharing the rich cultural heritage of dance.
Sampad are also working with Outdoor Places Unusual Spaces and the Mailbox to bring style, culture and connection to with 2 free concerts.
These will take place on Tuesday, 21 October from 12 to 12.45 pm and 1.15 to 2 pm.
It will feature highly acclaimed musicians including Rekesh Chauhan BEM and Rohan Roy.
Sampad’s Learning Team are set to help local schools to celebrate the festival with new interactive performance explores the stories and traditions of Diwali through storytelling, dance and music.
The performance and workshop explores some of the less well known stories of Diwali, and shares traditions that Hindu and Sikh families follow to mark this celebration.
