The CEO of a charity that helps young and marginalised people attended a Royal Garden Party.

Nicola Turner, founder of the charity United by 2022, set up the charity after the 2022 Commonwealth Games ended to continue to the legacy of the multi-sport event.

United by 2022 is the chosen charity of Future Faces.

The organisation has played a main role ensuring £15million has gone to communities all around the West Midlands and supported more than 2,000, 16–24-year-olds who face hardships.

It has upskilled hundreds of community groups to help them find sustainable funding and advised local employers on how they can be a better friend to local communities.

Nicola was nominated to attend the Royal Garden Party in recognition of her charitable and community work for United by 2022.

Nicola said: “I went to the Royal Garden Party and I took Barbara, my lovely mother-in-law.

“It was a thrill to step behind the gates of Buckingham Palace and take tea on the lawn with the King and Queen.

“My nomination came about thanks to the work we do at United By 2022 providing volunteers for major events and work experience for disadvantaged young people.”
