CEO Stories: Former Chasetown boss on history-making FA Cup run
Former Chasetown football club manager Charlie Blakemore relives the club's fairytale FA Cup run of 2007-08 on the latest episode of CEO Stories - the podcast hosted by Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce chief executive Henrietta Brealey.
The episode is available to listen to now on all major listening apps such as Apple Podcasts and Spotify.
Charlie, now the group managing director of Intercity Technology, was in charge of the non-league side for seven years and enjoyed a hugely successful spell which included two memorable FA Cup runs.
The second of those in the 2007-08 resulted in a piece of English football history, with the Scholars becoming the lowest ranked club to reach the third round of the world's oldest and most famous cup competition.
In this podcast, Charlie talks to Henrietta about that fairytale run, the experience of facing Championship heavyweights Cardiff City and how he helped his players raise their game for the big occasions.
He also discusses the similarities between leadership in sport and business, having also held high-pressure roles in aerospace, defence and the technology sector.
