Chamber announces second Working Inspiration Group success story
The Solihull Chamber Committee Working Inspiration Group has announced their second success story, Maria Dolan (pictured) from The Colebridge Trust.
Maria Dolan is an employment coach at The Colebridge Trust. After realising her retail career no longer suited her family life, she approached the Trust in 2016 and began an apprenticeship in a warehouse team leader role.
After supporting other young people, she quickly transitioned to support the Trust in delivering employment projects.
Maria said: “I love my job and I love supporting people. You get all types of people who come in, such as the more mature generation. They don't know how to use computers or how to do their CVs. When you get them that job and then they phone you and tell you that you 've made a big difference to someone's life, it 's really rewarding. ”
Based in North Solihull, The Colebridge Trust has been supporting individuals from marginalised communities to successfully enter the workforce for the past 21 years. Their wider work centres around inclusion, health and wellbeing and ensuring community assets are available for local people.
They are passionate about enabling local people to best access the breadth of employment opportunities available within the community, regardless of background. The team often work with individuals whose challenges range from underlying health and wellbeing issues or other physical or mental health issues, predominantly low-level issues, for which a bit of support is needed alongside some strategies to help them to cope with those challenges.
The Trust has had particularly huge success in gaining employment for individuals within the construction and manufacturing industries and over the past few years they have regularly placed a few hundred people into work each year, enabling individuals to raise their attainment levels.
