The team at marketing agency PLOTT Creative joined the Chair of the Sutton Coldfield Chamber of Commerce, Katie Hale, on her quest to raise vital funds for Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA).

Katie led a charity climb of Wales's highest peak, Mount Snowdon, in support of her lifelong friend Anna Plotnek, managing director of PLOTT, whose world was turned upside down last December when her husband was diagnosed with the devastating disease.

Motor neurone disease happens when cells in the brain and nerves, called motor neurons, gradually stop working. This causes the muscles to weaken, stiffen and waste.

While there is no cure, Katie wanted to give sufferers some hope and raise crucial funds for the charity through a memorable walk with close friends and colleagues.

Katie initially set the target at £1,000 and then £10,000. This has now been well exceeded and currently stands at just over £12,000.

Katie said: “The climb was so much tougher than I expected, physically and mentally but it was wonderful to be doing something so positive for the MNDA Charity after such a tough few months.

"The generosity shown by our communities and networks is overwhelming and we even had complete strangers donating on the day - just amazing.

"I really am so grateful for the donations, and very proud of my mountain-climbing team. ”

Anna Plotnek said: “I've known Katie all my life and have been supported by her countless times over the years, it's not just me either, but everyone - it's just who Katie is. So I've been overwhelmed by the response we've received, and by the kind words from everyone - overwhelmed, but not surprised.

"Katie's friends and colleagues have jumped at the opportunity to give something back. ”

Katie said she is delighted with reaching 122 per cent of her target, with many donations from businesses, friends and colleagues.
