Royal Sutton Coldfield Chamber’s executive committee went behind the scenes at Amazon’s new high-tech fulfilment facility in Peddimore, on the outskirts of the Royal Town.

The 650,000 sq ft facility, which opened in October, is already employing in excess of 2,000 people – more than twice the number at the previous site in Rugeley.

The Chamber delegation were given a tour and had the chance to learn about the facility’s impressive inner workings, ahead of a committee meeting which also took place on site.

Chamber president Naeem Arif said: “I’d like to thank the Amazon team for welcoming us to the impressive Peddimore site, which is an impressive development that is already bringing quality jobs to the Sutton Coldfield area.

“It was great to have a behind-the-scenes look at the facility’s operations and the Chamber committee was extremely impressed with the professionalism and high achievement which this investment is delivering.”

Amazon is continuing to engage with the Chamber and is a headline sponsor of the Royal Sutton Coldfield, Lichfield & Tamworth and Cannock Chase Chambers of Commerce awards, taking place at The Belfry on Friday 25 January.

Neil Williams, Amazon’s public relations manager, said: “We were delighted to show fellow Chamber of Commerce members around our state-of-the-art fulfilment centre in Sutton Coldfield.

“The Royal Sutton Coldfield Chamber and the Greater Birmingham Chambers are leading organisations for businesses of all sizes and sectors, and we’re grateful to them for welcoming us into our latest location and for their ongoing support.”
