Members of the Sutton Coldfield Chamber executive committee hosted a business advisory roundtable with members - sharing key tips on finance, marketing, PR, planning and business process.

The event followed a member survey before Christmas which identified a number of key areas in which businesses in the Royal Town required support.

Led by Chamber vice-presidents Clare Whalley and Naeem Arif, the session was the first in a number of planned bi-monthly events through 2021, providing a space for Chamber members to share their experiences as start-up or established businesses.

Delegates were split into four groups and spent 20 minutes at a time discussing topics such as how to communicate with customers, how to increase collaboration with external parties, how to work with a business plan and how to keep your business marketing fresh.

Clare Whalley (pictured), MD of Meta4 Business Coaching, said: “The third lockdown has continued to see face-to-face events and contact very much minimalised.

“So as a committee we thought it 'd be a great way to reach out to our members in Sutton and beyond and offer our tips, advice and experience for free through the course of 2021.

“Linking the sessions to the feedback received from our survey before Christmas will hopefully see more and more people attend these free sessions and help them make the most of their Chamber membership as we navigate the coming months. ”

Naeem Arif, MD of United Carpets, said: “It was great to link up with Clare, and fellow committee members including Gary Phelps, David Graham, Joanna Drinkwater and our president Phil Arkinstall, to offer 20-minute sessions on each of the subjects.

“This will form an ongoing plan to compliment the work done by the Chamber relationship management and business development team in reaching out to business in Sutton Coldfield and offer advice and support. ”
