Chamber Council nominations now open
Nominations are now open for election to the Birmingham Chamber of Commerce 's Chamber Council.
Individuals from businesses who are members of the Chamber can now put themselves forward for one of 11 places that are available.
The council meets quarterly and is made up of division representatives, elected representatives and board-nominated representatives.
Council members play an important role in steering the Chamber 's policy and campaigning activity.
They support the GBCC policy team on where to best target resources and act as a conduit to the wider membership, feeding back the views of businesses on the key policy issues.
As a Chamber Council member, business figures will be given the opportunity to build their profile, networks and connections among the region 's business community.
In order to be eligible to stand, you must be a member of the Birmingham Chamber of Commerce division of the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce.
Applicants are required to complete a nomination form, which must include signatory nominations from two Chamber members.
Henrietta Brealey (pictured), chief executive at the GBCC, said: “Our Chamber Council help shape our responses to and action on the key business issues, policy changes and strategic opportunities of the day.
“From our Net Zero: Sustainable Business campaign, to Growth Through People and stakeholder engagement priorities - they are a critical sounding board, keeping us focused on the needs of our membership.
“In previous years, we received a large number of applications to join the Council which is a great testament to our members and the fantastic support they provide to the Chamber.
“We really value the input of our Chamber Councillors ' in identifying areas we can effect change through our lobbying and stakeholder and member engagement work.
“For any members that are looking to play a more active role in shaping our policy and campaigning activity, I would urge them to put themselves forward for Chamber Council and help us to make Greater Birmingham the best place to do business. ”
The deadline for applications is 30 July.
