Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce (GBCC) is hosting an event next week to advise businesses on the existing opportunities to trade with the UK 's second largest export market.

The online 'Trading with Germany ' webinar takes place on 6 May from 11am.

The event will be hosted jointly with the German-British Chamber of Industry and Commerce and will welcome speakers from both of the respective chambers, as well as the FrankfurtRheinMain GmbH, the economic development agency for the region.

The discussions will provide insight into the current trading situation between the UK, Germany and the EU post-Brexit and include advice on how businesses can establish a foothold in the EU.

The event will be free to all members and non-members.

Nigel Wood, chairman of the German-British Chamber Midlands Committee and senior partner at The Wilkes Partnership LLP, said: “Germany continues to be a hugely important market for British companies - more than 80 million consumers willing to buy innovative products produced or developed in the UK, be that the Mini, Vacuum cleaners by Dyson or After Eight.

“Trading relations will continue to be strong as both nations are close partners in international trade. Administrative hurdles may be a bit bigger these days, but once the teething problems of Brexit are sorted bilateral trade will continue to be an important engine for future growth in both countries. ”

Stefanie Bowes (pictured), international business manager at the GBCC, said: “We our delighted to be working closely with a key European partner in the German-British Chamber of Industry & Commerce.

“This is an important opportunity to further develop understanding on the new ways of working together post Brexit.

“The Midlands has a long-standing partnership with Germany, with countless success stories across the entire region.

“In order to continue this strong partnership between our markets and to prepare businesses to successfully develop bilateral links post Brexit, we need to maintain these conversations and keep on top of the key opportunities that are available to all. ”

This Trading with Germany event is sponsored by the West Midlands Combined Authority.
