Chamber event to explore Ghana trade opportunities
Birmingham is set to welcome a delegation from Ghana next week to discuss future trade opportunities.
The Greater Birmingham Commonwealth Chamber of Commerce and UK-Ghana Chamber of Commerce are holding an event with representatives from companies in Ghana to discuss future opportunities to trade with the African nation.
It takes place on Tuesday 21 June (8am to 10.30am) at a venue to be confirmed.
Guest speakers include Adjoba Kyiamah, the executive director at the UK-Ghana Chamber of Commerce and Papa Kow Bartels (pictured), the head of trade and investment at the Ghana High Commission (GHC) in the UK and a member of the board of the Ghana Cocoa Marketing Company.
Adjoba is currently the executive director at the UK-Ghana Chamber of Commerce, a trade association that promotes bilateral trade between the UK and Ghana.
She was previously senior associate at SESI LEGAL, legal consultants, arbitrators and notaries.
From 2007 until the end of 2017, she was the legal and corporate affairs director for Accra Brewery Limited, the Ghana subsidiary of ABInbev, the world 's largest beer company.
Adjoba has spent over 18 years in senior corporate management roles in the consumer goods manufacturing industry and media management where she developed an excellent track record of providing best practice legal and stakeholder engagement advice and support to both management and board.
In addition to successfully minimising legal risk, Adjoba has extensive experience in corporate reputation management, managing corporate compliance, executing corporate transactions, Human Resource management, procurement and managing key stakeholder engagements.
Papa Kow Bartels is an experienced enterprise development strategist with over 34 years of work life spanning the fields of engineering, agriculture, post-harvest management, business development, SMEs and the manufacturing industry.
He was programme lead for industrial subcontracting and partnership exchange of the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MOTI), Ghana and served variously as Ag. Director of Industry and Director of Logistics and Value Chain of the same Ministry.
He has had stints as guest lecturer, Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration and the Regional Maritime University in Ghana.
Papa is trained as agriculturist, post-harvest scientist, rural engineer, a food technologist and a business enabler.
