Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce (GBCC) are kicking off the run up to the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games with an online event aimed at outlining supplier opportunities for local businesses.

In partnership with Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, the Chamber will host the webinar on 12 January from 8am and will connect local businesses with those who have won contracts from the Birmingham 2022 organising Committee.

Suppliers speaking at the event include GL Events UK, Arena Group, CSM Live, Birmingham Ceremonies Ltd and Outdoor Digital Productions Ltd.

The event is designed to identify what Games-related supplier and sub-supplier opportunities are available, as well as providing local businesses with an understanding on how they can secure contracts with suppliers, and what specifically they are looking for in terms of support.

These opportunities include operations, tech, production, site infrastructure, personnel and more.

Greater Birmingham Chamber of Commerce will kick off the event with a short presentation. Next, Commonwealth Games CFO, David Grady will introduce the event before suppliers are given the chance to speak about who they are, what contract they have with the Games, what they 'll be delivering, what support they require from suppliers, how suppliers can get in contact and timeframe for expressions of interest.

A Q&A will follow each presentation, along with a general Q&A at the end of the event.

Henrietta Brealey, chief executive of Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce (GBCC) said: “The Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games are a big investment in, and opportunity for, the region.

“At the Chamber we 're continually creating ways for our members to get involved, grow their awareness of and access to Games related opportunities.

“A big area of interest is of course in becoming a supplier to the Games, either directly or through supply chain opportunities.

“That is why we are delighted to be working with the Games Organising Committee and their major suppliers to bring this webinar to Chamber members.

“There are a real range of opportunities available for a variety of businesses, I would encourage all readers sign up and tune in to learn how they can be part of this once in a generation occasion. ”
