The Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce (GBCC) will be working collaboratively with Birmingham Pride to champion diversity across the region’s business community.

As part of the partnership, the Chamber and the Future Faces Chamber of Commerce are inviting  members to register to join the GBCC walking group in the Birmingham Pride Parade. The Parade starts at Centenary Square in the heart of the city centre from 11am on 25 May.

Birmingham Pride plays a leading role in building a community where all people are free to live without fear or prejudice while striving for equality as part of an evolving global pride movement.

Their year-round projects and partnerships are focussed on transforming the lives of LGBTQ+ people in Birmingham and the wider West Midlands.

Birmingham Pride weekend is the climax of their year-round activity, bringing together over 100,000 people to celebrate LGBTQ+ achievement, life and love. Birmingham Pride Weekend 2024 will take place over the 25 and 26 May.

Pride has become one of the most important LGBTQ+ festivals in the UK attracting in excess of 40,000 people over the course of the weekend to the festival site in the heart of the LGBTQ+ village and over 75,000 participating in or watching the annual pride parade through the streets of Birmingham.

Artists performing in the festival include Loreen, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Gok Wan, Flick, Louis Cyfer, Victoria Scone and more. Further information on tickets can be found on the Birmingham Pride Website

Speaking about the partnership, Lawrence Barton DL (pictured) from Birmingham Pride said: “This collaboration underscores our commitment to fostering inclusivity and celebrating diversity in our city.

“Partnering with the business community is vital for amplifying our advocacy efforts and promoting LGBTQ+ inclusion beyond our annual celebrations.

“Together, we can create meaningful change, ensure workplace equality, and build a more inclusive society where everyone feels valued and respected."

Henrietta Brealey, CEO of the GBCC said: “We are delighted to be working in partnership with Birmingham Pride and to support their work championing the LGBTQ+ community.

“At the Chamber, the business community we represent is glorious in its diversity. I’m looking forward to helping showcase this through our participation in the Birmingham Pride Parade.

“I would encourage our members who would like to join us in walking with pride to register to join us in our walking group in the parade”.

“More information can be found in this weeks’ member update.”
