Chamber launches health and safety course for SMEs
Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce (GBCC) has launched a new course aimed at providing small businesses with vital knowledge around health and safety in the workplace.
The 'Health and Safety ' course is being delivered by the GBCC in partnership with European Health and Safety Consultants Ltd (EHSC), who have been delivering courses for over 30 years to customers all over Europe.
The course is targeted at owners, directors and managers of small businesses who have specific responsibilities in the realm of managing and coordinating health and safety across their business.
Discussions will explore health and safety legislation and provide attendees with a tool kit of information to take way with them and apply to their role within their company.
Content covered in the course will include:
- Overview of primary Health & Safety legislation, Health & Safety guidance and best practice
- Health & Safety policy
- Responsibilities
- Insurance
- Fire / emergency / first aid
- Control of substances hazardous to health (COSHH)
- Accidents & incidents
- Fee for intervention
- Health & Safety terms
- Managing Health & Safety at work (including contractors)
- Hazard and risk analysis
- Personal protective equipment
- Display screen equipment
- Manual handling
- Work equipment
- Where to get help
After completing a test on information learnt during the event, attendees that pass will receive a certificate.
Leah Quarmby, international trade training manager, said: “With employees slowly returning to the work place after Covid, there has never been a more suitable time to make sure your business is following the correct procedures.
“Our new Health & Safety for small businesses course ticks all the boxes to make sure your company are fully in the know on what you should be doing to adhere to legislation and law.
“This detailed one day course would suit as a refresher or someone who has had no previous training but needs to make sure they are following correct safety measures for them, their staff and visitors to the building. ”
Taking place on 30 July between 9am-4pm, the course will be held in-person at Chamber House in Edgbaston. Lateral flow testing is required prior to attending.
The course costs £165 + VAT for members and £225 + VAT for non-members.
