Chamber launches new event to celebrate South Asian Heritage
A new event celebrating the proud and diverse heritage of South Asia has been announced by the Asian Business Chamber of Commerce.
The first of its kind event will bring together culture, conversation, and community to explore the richness and diversity of South Asian identities under the theme ‘Unity in Diversity’.
It will take place on 16 July at Birmingham Botanical Gardens from 5.30pm to 8.30pm. As part of the celebrations, ABCC is inviting businesses to exhibit and showcase their products and services as part of a cultural bazaar. Speakers will be announced soon.
South Asia is one of the most culturally rich and diverse regions in the world, encompassing India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Afghanistan, each shaped by centuries of history, migration and exchange.
The region is home to a wide range of traditions, religions, cuisines, art forms and celebrations, as well as hundreds of languages and dialects, including Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi, Bengali, Tamil, Gujarati and Sinhala.
Speaking about the celebrations, events manager Marcella Meehan, said: “We’re really excited to be hosting our very first South Asian Heritage Celebration.
“Working closely with the ABCC committee, we have created a programme that celebrates the rich culture of this diaspora, acknowledges the challenges they have faced, and showcases the significant impact they have had on our region.”
Tickets to the event are available on the website, priced at £50 plus VAT for members and £65 plus VAT for non-members.
Sponsorship opportunities are also available, priced at £1500 plus VAT. For more information on sponsorship, contact GBCC director of membership Lillian Elekan on l.elekan@birmingham-chamber.com
