The Greater Birmingham Transatlantic Chamber of Commerce has announced it will be holding an event in partnership with JobsOhio, to bring together senior business leaders, industry representatives and investors from across the Ohio and West Midlands regions.

The event, happening from 3:30 to 7pm on Tuesday, 11 June at The Council House, Birmingham, will be an opportunity to focus on the changing face of these industrial heartlands as they move forward in adopting innovation, new technologies and a more sustainable future.

Speaking at the event will be Alina Harastasanu (pictured), director of European Business Development at JobsOhio, the economic development agency for the U.S. State of Ohio.

She will be sharing insights on Ohio’s key industries; advanced manufacturing, future mobility including automotive, aviation and aerospace, chemicals, healthcare and medical technology and professional/financial services and the incentives and support available to those looking to expand, scale-up or establish a U.S. footprint.

There will also be an opportunity to learn from West Midlands company Aurrigo, who have already built a presence in Ohio.

The discussion will be supported by an expert panel including Vesko Petkov, partner at Mazars, and UK director of trade and investment specialists OCO Global, Nick Watson, who will cover the latest updates on the U.S. Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), the potential impact of upcoming elections and the challenges and opportunities for the U.S. and UK markets with the slow but steady move towards electrification and sustainability.

Speaking about the event, Vesko Petkov said: “This is a momentous time for these sectors.  We have already been working with our US colleagues in Ohio over 20 years on a number of respective advisory, tax and payroll clients with transatlantic interests.

“We are as a result well positioned to deliver quality, value and timeliness in this period of transformation in the industries.”
